We are spending our Saturday as a practice run through of setting up the birthing tub and filling it. While Ben was hooking up the hoses to the washer connection for hot/cold water (to fill the tub) one of the vavles broke off and now he’s off to Home Depot to get stuff for the repair. I’m so glad we decided to do a practice set up...
I’m not sure if I will actually give birth in the water - but I’m not opposed to it. I am looking forward at least laboring in the water to take the pressure off. The tub is going to be set up on the tile where our dining room table is usually. It’s close to a bathroom and the hot/cold water source which we are using from the washer hook up.
Our midwife came to our house for the first time last night and completed my weekly prenatal visit. We also talked a bit about the logistics of set up and she made her recommendations. We are very excited about welcoming our new little one into the world. I feel very peaceful and content as we wait for the baby to arrive.
Our dear friend Melinda is coming over to watch the children while I birth the baby. She may or may not take the children to her house for a while, depending on the time of day and what I want her to do. Nate has expressed his interest in seeing the baby coming out. But the rest of it may be boring for him to “watch.” My labor with Janice was about 8 hours. I have some fun snacks for the children and some movies set aside...
